CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs offer particular advantages over other storage media, and not just for archiving. The shelf life of USB sticks, memory cards and hard drives is limited. Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs do not contain any electronic components that could become a weak point and cause data loss.
